IRA Gifts

For those aged 70½ and older, making a contribution to Holy Family from your IRA can be a desirable tax-wise way to support Holy Family’s ministry.

Best of all?

Your gift will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we minister to for years to come!

Donate money from your IRA to Holy Family

Not living off your IRA savings?

Making a tax-free donation to a charity could benefit someone in need―and you. It's easy.

How It Works

  • Donors can give up to $108,000 annually through a qualified charitable distribution ($216,000 for spouses with separate accounts).

  • Contact your IRA administrator to initiate the tax-free transfer. Your custody agent can start an electronic transfer of funds or issue a check payable to “Passionist Fathers of CT” and mail it directly to the following address:

    Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center
    Attn: Development Office
    303 Tunxis Road
    West Hartford, CT  06107

Holy Family’s tax ID number is 06-0665178

  • Please ensure your IRA custodian includes your name and address (as the donor of record) and specifies the purpose or affiliation for your gift (i.e., if you would like your gift to support a specific ministry or fund).

  • Please contact us if you have questions about directing your gift, so we can ensure your contribution is used as you intend.

Make Holy Family a Beneficiary of Your IRA

  • Donors may also name Holy Family as the beneficiary of all or a portion of the remainder of their IRA upon their deaths. Contact your IRA administrator to complete a beneficiary designation form. This can often be done online.

  • Making Holy Family a beneficiary of your retirement account is one of the most tax-efficient ways to fund a charitable gift from your estate.

You may reduce or eliminate federal estate and income taxes related to your retirement account at your passing.

  • By making Holy Family a beneficiary of your retirement account, you qualify to become a member of The Flynn Heritage Society. To learn more about becoming a member of The Flynn Heritage Society, please contact us at dfleming@holyfamilyretreat.org or 860-760-9710.

Benefits

  • Withdrawals for qualified charitable distributions are not subject to income tax.

  • Gifts count toward the required minimum distribution (RMD) for donors aged 73 and older.

  • IRA gifts may be used to fulfill multi-year gift pledges.

  • Your gift can be used to support any part of our ministry, a specific fund or initiative, or to create a permanent fund - contact us to discuss details!
