One Bread, One Body: Encountering Christ in our Immigrant Brothers and Sisters

Join us for this evening of reflection with Sr. Mary Ellen Burns on how we can encounter Christ through our immigrant brothers and sisters. We will look at some of the realities facing immigrant communities in Connecticut through the lens of Fr. Dan Grody's A Theology of Migration: The Bodies of Refugees and the Body of Christ. This program includes dinner, a presentation by Sr. Mary Ellen followed by time for discussion and will close with a small prayer service.

Presenter Profile

Sr. Mary Ellen Burns

Sr. Mary Ellen Burns is a member of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She is a lawyer and executive director of Apostle Immigrant Services in New Haven, which was founded by her religious community.  AIS focuses its legal representation on family-based immigration, citizenship, DACA and immigration benefits for victims of crime and minors who have experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment. She previously worked in legal services in New York City in the areas of landlord-tenant and public benefits. She graduated from Yale Law School in 1989.
