JustFaith Movie Night: Harvest of Empire
Tuesday, October 14, 2025
6:30-8:30 p.m.
The JustFaith Social Justice Ministry at Holy Family invites you to join us for a viewing of the documentary Harvest of Empire.
Based on the book by Juan González, this eye-opening documentary delves into the stories of immigrants whose lives have been shaped by U.S. foreign policy. From colonization to modern-day political upheaval, the film provides a compelling look at how these actions have driven migration and shaped today's immigration crisis. It asks important questions about justice, human rights, and the role of faith in addressing the needs.
We will gather to watch the film in the main conference room. Discussion and refreshments will follow the film. For additional information, please contact Andrea Melanson at ammelanson@aol.com or 860-614-8280. Free will offering.
This event is sponsored by the JustFaith Ministry of Holy Family. No registration required.
Why This Matters:
Faith and Social Justice: As communities of faith, we are called to care for the most vulnerable among us. This documentary challenges us to understand the systemic roots of immigration and to respond with compassion, advocacy, and action.
Understanding the Political Climate: In today’s polarized political environment, it’s crucial to understand the historical context of immigration debates. Harvest of Empire provides a powerful narrative that cuts through the noise and offers insights into the forces that shape the current debate.
Immigration & Human Dignity: This screening is a reminder that the issue of immigration is about human lives, not political talking points. It calls us to reflect on the dignity of every person and how we, as individuals and as a community, can support our immigrant neighbors.
