Reflection for January 1
So many of us in the Catholic community have a special devotion to Mary. Why is that? She had perhaps one of, if not THE, most intimate relationships with Jesus. She carried him in her womb and was his mother.
Do WE WANT to be as intimate with Jesus as she was, or do we have a special devotion to her BECAUSE she had such an intimate relationship with Jesus?
It’s both. We should strive to know Jesus like Mary did while also looking up to Mary for what she endured, for her “YES”, and for her courage.
In 2023, how might we emulate Mary’s YES and develop a new intimate relationship with Jesus?
