Reflection for Thursday, Dec. 16

“Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, he will prepare your way before you.”

In Luke’s Gospel today, Jesus asks the crowd three times: “What did you go out to the desert to see?”

A reed in the wind?
Someone in fine garments?
A prophet?

John the Baptist was not merely a prophet, but God's messenger sent to prepare the way of the Messiah.

I ask, how are you preparing the way of the Lord this third week of Advent?

With wreaths and trimmed trees?
With packages and a bow?
With your heart?

Spend time in silence to reflect on the unseen gifts—faith, hope, and love.
