"Grace Enough" the Theme of 2017-2018 Retreat Season

Posted: July 13, 2017

Have you considered grace lately?  Not the “Bless us O Lord” before meals kind, but the kind that can lift you up when you are beyond down, the grace that helps knit things back together when life seems to be falling apart?

If you’d like the opportunity to consider grace more thoughtfully, join Holy Family’s retreat team this season for a weekend of peace and reflection on the power of God's grace in our lives. The theme, “Grace Enough,” from Paul's second letter to the Corinthians quoting the Lord, “my grace is enough for you,” will explore how God’s grace can give us the strength and courage we need to meet the ever-present challenges in our lives.

Associate Retreat Director Dr. Brandon Nappi says the topic couldn’t be more timely. “I'm aware more and more just how complex daily life is for people. The demands seem to multiply with each passing year. There is more communication but less communion. There are more ways to connect but less connection.”

Brandon says the weekend will explore from a scriptural and theological perspective what the Christian tradition means by grace, a word often used but little understood.

“We’ll look at how living in God's grace can guide us to make wise choices, leading to true happiness and peace.”

The 2017-2018 retreat season begins Sept. 22 and runs through June 10. There will be fourteen men’s weekends, six women’s weekends, and one couples’ weekend, along with weekends for teens, college students and young adults. The schedules can be found here.

Each weekend begins with a buffet dinner Friday from 6-7:30 p.m. and concludes with brunch on Sunday. Retreatants enjoy dynamic teaching, home-cooked meals, inspirational liturgies, uplifting music, and free time to walk the beautiful grounds and labyrinth. Healing arts therapies such as massage are available at an additional cost.

In addition to the weekend themed retreats, Holy Family offers day and evening programs, recovery retreats, and more.  A highlight of the new season will be a presentation by the wildly popular Jesuit priest and New York Times bestselling author Fr. James Martin on Nov. 10 titled, “Jesus, A Pilgrimage.”

Holy Family weekend retreats are presented by the center’s dynamic and beloved team of spiritual teachers including Fr. David Cinquegrani, Dr. Brandon Nappi, Sr. Elaine Betoncourt, Liza Peters, and new this year, Bill Heiden, who has a special interest in social justice ministry and a background in marketing and strategy.  Bill shares that he is “very excited to join the team for this retreat season and to spend time with retreatants as they break open how grace is unfolding in their lives.”
