Advent Centering Prayer Retreat

Weekend Retreat: Fri, Dec 2, 2011 - Sun, Dec 4, 2011

As we reflect upon our desire to grow in our relationship with God, it can be helpful to recall Jesus' words. "But when you pray go to your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father in secret and Your Father who sees in secret will repay you." (Matt. 6:6) With this foundational text present to us and within the context of centering prayer, we will explore two questions: “How do I begin to access my inner room?" and “What begins to happen when we access our inner room?” Join us for this contemplative prayer retreat in an atmosphere of silence and solitude. This retreat for men and women begins with a buffet dinner from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday evening and concludes around noon on Sunday.

Fr. Bill Sheehan has broad experience in pastoral ministry as a pastor and in marriage counseling. He has served as Director of Ministry to Priests in the Archdiocese of Miami, FL. He has been provincial of the Oblates Eastern America Province as well as Oblate formation director and novice director. Since 1983, Fr. Sheehan has been involved with Contemplative Outreach, founded by Fr. Thomas Keating, O.C.S.O. He has led many Centering Prayer workshops and retreats in different parts of the country. Recently, Fr. Bill was appointed to the Advisory Board of the quarterly magazine, Human Development.
